For the first burn, allow the wax to melt completely to the edges of the container to prevent tunneling. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each use. Burn for no more than 4 hours at a time, and keep the candle away from drafts. Always burn on a heat-resistant surface.

Smoking usually indicates the wick is too long or the candle is in a drafty area. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch and move the candle away from air currents. If smoking persists, extinguish the candle, let it cool, trim the wick shorter, and relight.
